Anzali Port City
Located in the vicinity of the Caspian Sea, close to the city of Rasht, the Free Trade Zone harbor city of Bandar-e Anzali (Anzali Port) in Gilan Province is one of the nicest and most important seaports in the north of Iran.
Entitled as Iran’s European paradise in terms of fascinating beauty, the city enjoys abundant natural attractions and architectural wonders, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign visitors annually.
The must-see attractions of the city include a clock tower, one of the oldest brick monuments with four clocks on four sides, observable from distance, City Hall edifice (Shahrdari), Hafezieh building, royal palace military museum, and two historical bridges of Anzali and Ghazian connecting the two parts of the Anzali Port.
In addition, the wonderful Anzali wetland, one of the biggest and most interesting lagoons in the world due to the diversity of flora and fauna species with all kinds of sea birds and large water lilies, provides fantastic landscapes and memorable moments with riding on Mirza Kochak Khan ship on the wetland.
Furthermore, the fabulous breakwater which was built for preventing waves rushing toward ships and boats is a well-positioned place now for photo opportunity that taking a shot here is highly recommended. Also, walking along the harbor promenade, the recreational pier, and coastal park along the Sefid River brings about very relaxing moments.
Bandar-e Anzali is a center of caviar production and due to having humid weather, the region is suitable to grow crops such as rice and tea which are well worth a taste.
Cooking tasty Kebabs and a variety of sea foods with local vegetables is the main cuisine of the city while various fish, pickled garlic, olive, and caviar as well as pearl-weaving as the most common handicraft, are considered as the most memorable souvenirs which are easily found in popular bazaars and shopping centers.
