Karaj City
Located in the west of the Iranian capital Tehran, the city of Karaj in Alborz Province at the foothills of the Alborz Mountains, surrounded by great landscapes is one of the best destinations for local, national, and international tourism. Thousands of people from all around Iran have been moving into this pleasant small town, making it a multicultural city, which is called the Little Iran. As the city has a wide variety of populations, here one can feel various traditions.
The city enjoys a very pleasant climate in all four seasons with famous natural attractions due to being in the vicinity of the stunning Alborz Mountain range providing a natural beauty and spectacular Chalous Road that driving along it provides memorable moments.
The history of Karaj dates back many centuries as the stone-built Zoroastrian Takht-e Rostam fire temple from the Parthian and Sassanid eras shows. The city enjoys more than 100 fascinating cultural, historical and natural attractions such as Morvarid Palace belonging to the Pahlavi dynasty in nearby Mehrshahr district, Shah Abbasi Caravanserai from the Safavid era including a traditional restaurant, Atashgah village, the old Karaj bridge, Soleimanieh palace, and the Yakhmorad cave.
Regarding the recreational places, Amir Kabir Dam on the Karaj River which is used for canoeing, fishing, water skiing, and swimming and Dizin ski resort as the first and most important ski resort in Iran are of great importance.
The city is connected to Tehran by freeway, subway, and railway and it has traditionally been considered as a tourism area particularly for Tehran citizens.
